Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work — Aristotle

Your workstation is the place where you spend most of your time.

I always saw these awesome workstations of professionals and got motivated by them. I always wondered how were they able to make it. Thankfully, because of the work from home, I got an opportunity to understand this aspect.

Today, I’ll try to cover and share how we (me and my friends) set up our workstations as per our needs to boost our productivity. Nothing fancy, just simple things which we have learned and implemented over the year through trial and error. Let’s get started!

Pankaj Kukreti Workstation

The Chair & The table :

No workstation is complete without a comfortable chair and a table. It might not sound a lot but investing in it boosts your productivity tremendously.

My Style was:

  1. I requested the carpenter to create an L-shaped desk for me so that I can have enough space for gadgets on one side while keeping movable things on another side. You can look for different styles of the desk as per you need
  2. I’m using the same adjustable office chair that I was using in the office for the chair. For that reason, I already knew what I’m looking for before entering the shop :-P

Extensions:

This applies to people that are working on a laptop. Mouse and keyboard are the best buddies of any workstation, an excellent mouse will not only make things easier for your hand but also for the flow of movement. As for the keyboard, nothing beats the comfortable position of writing that a keyboard provides, especially if you are a content warrior.

So how do you choose between so many options and choices? Don’t worry buddy, I got you covered.

Mouse :

In wired category: Since you have already used some company mouse earlier and know what suits you and what does not, I recommend you use the same model. For me, the Logitech mouse works the best.

In the Wireless category: as he is having incense work his take is logitech mx master mouse — Search that goes with his wireless setup also.

Keyboards:

Do you know there are two major types Membrane Keyboards vs Mechanical Keyboards?

Some of us already knew it. For those who don’t know about the difference, that means you are like me, your work doesn’t demand extra feel or the clicking sounds! :)

Jokes aside, both wired and wireless keyboards come with different options and styles. Just see what works for you, also what is in your budget.

The best keyboard with lots of customization is Keychorn, They are like a beast and awesome. I fell in love with just one week of using it.

Cooling Pad:

A cooling pad is just a device for the older laptops (or more powerful modern ones) that are prone to overheating. But as technology progresses, minor day-to-day tasks don’t require such an extension. If you regularly push your system, then definitely go for it

My Tip:

Ergonomic laptop stands are the things which you are looking for instead of cooling stands. These provide decent flow of the air, while also providing adjustment options, so you don’t strain yourself and compromise your posture.

Extra / Dual Monitors:

Believe it or not, a dual monitor helps you to get things done quickly. You may be surprised to find that it can dramatically improve your workflow just after a week. It took me quite a while to adjust to dual screens but once I got used to it, I have never let my monitor be single :-P

Monitor & its Connections:

You can connect a monitor with your system in any combination, like:

  • 1 system + 1 monitor (with Simple HDMI cable)
  • 2 systems + 1 monitors ( with HDMI + switch cable)
2 system + 1 monitor connection
Multiple input out switch
  • Or my personal best 3 systems + 1 monitor (Switch or wireless)

Switches help you out in this. They work best, especially when you are having multiple screens as diagrams shows

For extended connections, there are Connect Multiple HDMI & Multiple Other essential things (mouse, keyboard, etc) that works in that way

Other utilities :

Other simple but effective essentials that I have found were

  1. A Plant (for greenery and positive vibes)
  2. A good book to read (to acquire new set of knowledge)
  3. A Notebook with pen & pencil (to jot down any ideas)
  4. Some sticky notes (A quick thing to Share thankyou note)
  5. Collection of good eatable (mixture of fruits or some fibrous things)
  6. A motivation quote that inspires you
  7. A Picture of your loved one (to whom you can talk too :-P )
  8. A Good supply of electricity (Extra plugs for quick play n go)

Once you have all the things in place you are ready to rock n roll on your next big things
