As creative people, we tend to make so many plans. Over the time in your creative zone, I’m sure you have even started so many self-portraits like I did, but due to certain circumstances you are unable to get the time to finish them.

Have you also felt trapped? If yes, then don’t worry buddy, it happens with all creative personalities out there. Even Leonardo da Vinci lingered over it for four years and left Mona Lisa unfinished.

As time and events are continuously changing around us, we tend to make better decisions and seize opportunities for our survival. With an increase in responsibilities, we have to admit some duties in our daily lives, which leads to a whole new set of work styles that we are adopting.

Believe me, it takes lots of courage to be on a new path that we are pursuing or doing. I must say you did a great job. As a result, you most certainly deserve a pat on the back!

But as an artist, I somehow knew that unfinished work had no meaning until it was finished. It was like half cooked food , which was even worse than raw food, and over time, unfinished tasks became a set of burdens, and we started ignoring them by saying things like: “I wish I had more time to do _____ or I didn’t have enough _____ (this and that) Indirectly, we tend to blame things around us for the pending work, but in general, we know that there are a few reasons like fear, embarrassment, and failure that hold us back from finishing that pending work/assignments or anything.

I have found a statement that truly justifies our reasons as “We do finish things when we are passionate about or have a purpose.”

Finishing up things requires lots of discipline. Discipline requires patience, and patience enhances your personality.

There are many examples out there that show finishing up a task is the key to success, whether it’s painting, completing a marathon or completing your pending degree. It all just needs a little extra effort because you have already covered half of the distance. Just a little push is needed and you will be there at the peak of success.

Life is not about a big achievement , it is a set of daily small achievements that you have made.

Once you’ve gotten back to work on your unfinished assignments, you’ll notice that there’s a new you out there, ready to conquer new territory.

I’m here to help you with this by sharing some of my secrets, which I’m using to a on a pending task. I hope that will work for you too.

Start small:

Start small as much as you can, which doesn’t require any effort. This is the first lesson, i.e., walking just 100m if you are planning to run a marathon. This creates your winning attitude and, over time, helps you finish bigger tasks.

Set a deadline:

Creating a deadline helps you track your progress with respect to time. The deadline also allows you to track down when to remain calm and when to take a boost.

At first, it may happen that you miss the deadline, but it’s OK to think of that perspective that at least you have tried to make it happen.

Add something for others:

in your task, I have a way that works for me to finish my pending tasks. It is to make a commitment with others. Let me explain. I “make a promise to someone like, I’ll create a handmade painting for you on your birthday (which is after 2 months). In that sense, I have created a deadline with the element of “something for others” that motivates me to finish the task on time with excitement, though! :P

Keeping things in handy order,

which hardly takes more than 2 minutes to jumpstart the projects, I.e., keeping a paint brush next to the bed with a colour palette. It will help me to start without any resistance force.

Last but not least, create your own

let-do-it attitude.

Many of us are looking forward to creating a perfect output with a perfect approach, which sometimes leads to do much time in analysis paralysis.

Starting worse is much better than starting late.

This approach is a good one when we work on a professional front, but for the personal end, where finishing pending lists is our motive, you should go with the attitude of finishing things without worrying about perfectionism. Even while writing this piece of article, I’ve tried to finish it without much worry about making it perfect to stand among other well-known authors.

These are all a few things that I’m considering while working on my pending tasks. To my surprise, I have applied all the above points here to get this article done.

I’m sharing these in the hope that they will help you too to finish your pending work. Before I go, I’d like to remind everyone to always remember

“Staring Strong is Good, Finishing Strong is Epic.” — Robin Sharma

With that, I’ll take your leave until the next session.
